A fascinating short circuit Annapurna & Poon Hill Sunrise Panorama Trekking with super vista of world’s 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m / 26,795 ft), 10th highest Annapurna (8,091m / 26,545 ft) and Varaha Shikhar peaks / Annapurna Fang.

Nepal Adventure Team welcomes all interested people for a nice and pleasant country walk on the mid hills of picturesque Annapurna Himalaya with enchanting forest of tall rhododendron, magnolia, blue pines, firs and oaks trees, in flowering season this rolling green hills turns into a natural garden. A fabulous and most scenic short trek in all Himalaya regions visiting traditional farm villages of Gurung and Poon / Magar tribe with interesting culture in the harmony of pristine natural environment. The highest spot is at Poon Hill 3,210 meters with stunning sunrise panorama over range of peaks.

After an enjoyable Annapurna & Poon Hill Sunrise Panorama Trekking, journey leads back to Pokhara via alternate route towards Gandruk concluding this amazing trek with a drive to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu with great overwhelming experience and wonderful service of Nepal Adventure Teams staffs.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines. On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, Nepal Adventure Team staff and guide will receive you with a warm welcome and then transfer to the respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu around the interesting area of Thamel. After refreshment our guide / leader will brief you regarding hotels, Nepali cultures, tours and Poon Hill Trekking with a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant assisted by a folk cultural program.

Day 02Drive to Pokhara 860m (220 km) - 06 hrs. You'll be driven for about 06 hours to popular tourist city, Pokhara on the main busy highway. The drive carries on with the fantastic views of snow capped mountains; Mt. Annapurna, Manaslu, Mt. Dhaulagiri with the famous beautiful peak Machapuchare, the Fish Tail shaped mountain which is unclimbed so far and well respected and regarded as sacred mountain. You'll be transferred to a hotel by the serene Phewa lake.

Day 03Drive to Nayapul 1,100m begin trek to Hille 1,450m - 04 hrs. After a wonderful stay in the world’s popular tourist spot in Pokhara, a drive will take you to Nayapul through mid-hill towns and villages, located on the Pokhara to Baglung/Beni highway. Our trek starts with a gradual walk through the nice village of Birethanti encountering trekkers, mule and donkey trains. Our route leads on ancient trail, Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade Route to Tibet, through farm lands and villages reaching at Hille village for the first night stay in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge after a good day walk.

Day 04Trek to Ghorepani 2,840 m - 05 hours. Morning walk leads to Tikhedhuga through a steep up for about two hours on the paved stone steps all the way to the top of Ulleri village overlooking grand views of the surrounding landscapes and snow capped peaks of Annapurna South and Mt. Machapuchare. The strenuous uphill climb gets better on the winding path through cool forest path into serene green alpine tree lines of oaks-pines and rhododendron to more height at Ghorepani- Deurali village. Ghorepani is located on the high spot stretching all the way to Upper Mustang unto Tibet. The people of this area are Pun Magar and the place is famous for the hike to Poon Hill, a view point offering super wide angle views of world’s three highest peaks and range of other mountains with striking sunrise and sunset.

Day 05Morning hike to Poon Hill 3,210m for sunrise, walk to Tadapani 2,520m. Early morning just before dawn hike up to Poon-Hill at 3,210m to view fantastic sunrise over the mountain range from Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu to Annapurna and as far to Ganesh Himal in the far eastern horizon including the stunning Mt. Machapuchare. Walk continues uphill and downhill passing small places of Deurali and Banthati and with short climb reaching at Tadapani for overnight stop after a pleasant trek. Tadapani is located in the middle of enchanting wonderful forests with super views of Annapurna and Machapuchare.

Day 06Trek to Ghandruk 1,951m - 04 hours. Today’s a short walk to Gandruk village. Morning walk leads on a good trail through pleasant cool forest, with views of snowcapped mountains. A nice downhill walk to Ghandruk village for lunch and overnight stop. In Ghandruk, you can explore the Gurung village which is one of the largest villages around Annapurna region. The men folks of Ghandruk village have long tradition of supplying some of the finest soldiers in the Gorkha Regiment to both British and Indian armies.

Day 07Trek to Pothana 1, 900 m - 05 hrs. In the morning, walk on the downhill path for an hour to Modi River. Cross the bridge with short climb reaching at Landruk village, after short break there continue walk on the long winding trail through terraced farm fields and villages with an uphill walk for 40 minutes to Deurali ridge at 2,150 m. After Deurali enjoying grand views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu including Fish Tail peak, walk all the way to Pothana village for overnight halt.

Day 08Trek to Kande and drive to Pokhara. Morning with superb mountain views leads to a short up through cool forest at Thulo Kharka also known as Australian Camp. A wonderful spot in the midst of the forest with large meadows overlooking magnificent views of the Himalayan range of mountains. After a short break here, descend to Kande village on the road head that connects Baglung-Pokhara. Then an hour drive back to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in the high hills.

Day 09Drive back to Kathmandu - 06 hrs. Early in the morning following the same route, you'll be driven back to Kathmandu within few hours where you can relax and browse around the market rest of the day. You can ask your guide to take you to explore around if you feel like doing so. Farewell dinner is served in the cultural restaurant.(speak to us for the flying option)

Day 10International departure Your last day in amazing Nepal. As per international flight time, our staff will transfer you to international airport for your flight back home or to next port of call, after a great Annapurna base camp adventure with Nepal Adventure Team.

Passport & Visa

All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Getting a visa must be the easiest one though. You just have to go to the Nepalese Embassy/consulate in your country or it can also be obtained upon your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport. To get a visa, you need to bring 2 pp size photos, visa fees and valid passport.

Means of Transport

Tourist bus or private vehicle and walking. All the cost is already included unless otherwise noted.

 

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip or if your belongings are lost or stolen.


Solo Travellers

We have arranged for the single traveller to pay for the single trip only. He has to share the accommodation with other person of same sex though while he can also join the other groups.

 

Foods and Accommodations

All meals are provided during trek while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Generally, traditional Nepalese(daal, bhat, curry and pickle), Tibetan, Continental, Indian and other cuisines are available in the local lodges/teahouses. There will also be welcome and farewell dinner for guests in Kathmandu.

In Kathmandu, youll be staying in the best quality standard hotel, on twin-sharing basis. On trekking, accommodations are simple yet comfortable on mountain lodges. Toilets and bathrooms need to be shared in some teahouses.

Note: Single room is always available but only on special request and spending extra bucks.

 

Health and Fitness required

No previous experience is required since its a moderate trek. But you being a healthy person, physically and mentally is very important. It is better if we prepare ourselves few days/weeks prior to the start of the trek by jogging and running regularly since well be walking a lot of ups and downs in the hills, ridges, villages and mountains. Participants with the pre-existing medical conditions should inform us beforehand.


First Aid Kit/High Altitude Sickness

Nepal Adventure Team strongly suggests that you have your own personal first aid or medical kit. No worries about the altitude sickness.

Your Guide and Porter

Since the mountain trekking take you to the remote places over high altitudes, the leader should have a significant knowledge in the field so that he can wonderfully and safely lead you there clearing any obstacles on the way. We,Nepal Adventure Team can proudly say that our guides are highly qualified for the role. They are fully  trained, experienced and licensed. They have undergone through a whole lot of trainings to make themselves useful in various situations and to make your journey a smooth and pleasant one.

Our porters are always fully equipped with the gears they need and as per the company policy, they are always insured and completely looked after. They are our backbone. We allow maximum weight of 25kg to be carried by one porter. We make sure that they are well paid and well treated.

 


Best Time to Travel

The best time for trekking to the Poon Hill is Spring(March to May) and Autumn(September to November) because the weather is warm and  moderate while the view and visibility is the best. The winter is also somehow fine but the monsoon is the less frequented time because of the occasional heavy rain and when the roads might be troublesome.

Equipments and Packing Lists

After booking with Nepal Adventure Team, please pack necessary items as listed:
1. Travel documents: passport, visa(if you have), travel insurance, air tickets, voucher, passport photo (x 2)
2. Bank card or credit cards, travellers cheque, etc
3. Comfortable boots and runners/sports shoes.
4. 6-8 pairs of socks woolen / cotton.
5. Fleece jacket, Down / Duvet Jacket and Rain / windproof jacket.
6. Gloves- 2 pairs.
7. T-shirts 4-6 pcs, shirts(woolen/cotton).
8. A cap for day and a woolen hat or Balaclava for evening / morning wear.
9. Trousers.
10. Short and tracksuits.
11. Sleeping bag (4 seasons)  with inner liner.

5.  Ski / walking poles(optional but useful).

Precautionary Note

Trekking has been long established in Nepal,so the itineraries are modified and moderated in such a way that you can take it easy and slow. DO NOT RUSH AND ENJOY. There is plenty of time and guide will keep track of you all the time. It might be a bit harder or a bit more colder but you will get used to it.

Additional Money

Every traveller is different and they spend their own way. Some spend on food and drinks while other on souvenirs. Either way, consider your own spending habits and also tipping, emergency fund($200), etc before you pack up and leave.

 

Trip Specific Safety

Your guide is always there for your safety concerns and looking after your valuables. But you have to be equally careful. Carry some sort of wallet or belt for your important documents and money. The hotels have the safety deposit box where the lock is recommended before passing the luggage.

A Couple of Rules

Possession or using of any illegal drugs is totally intolerable. Its because of the law that respects the local people and their culture. The group will be expelled in such case.

The groups safety is very important for us. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Even though every effort is made to go as planned, a little change might occur in the itinerary because of weather conditions, health condition of a person, unexpected natural disasters, etc. The leader will try to ensure the trip runs as planned, but please be prepared to be flexible just in case.
