Everest Base Camp Trek Best season

The best season for the Everest Base Camp trek is known to be spring and autumn. Spring and autumn season are the best trekking seasons in Nepal. The views are more clear in these seasons than in others. Also, you are less likely to be a victim of heavy snowfall or rain during this period.

Everest Base Camp Trek Cost

What is the cost to trek Everest base camp? Well, the Everest Base Camp trek is not a cheap trek due to its duration and also due to the difficulty in reaching the Everest region. Many factors affect the cost of trekking namely transportation mode, trek duration, permit costs, availability of resources in the trekking region, and also your requirements. The Everest Base Camp trek cost for Nepali citizens is generally lower than the non-Nepali citizens due to the permit costs.

Everest Base Camp Trek Permit

There are three Everest Base Camp permits that you will require. Those are:

  • TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) permit: $20 for an individual and $ 10 per person if you are in a group
  • National Park Entry Permit: Everest Base Camp is located in the Sagarmatha National Park.
  • Khumbu Pasanglhamu Gau Palia (Rural Municipality) takes a local tax of RS 2000 per/person

Everest Base Camp Trek Transportation Mode

The Everest Base Camp trek transportation modes include mostly flights and if necessary jeeps or taxis. Foreigners will have to additionally estimate the travel cost for the flights involved in entering Nepal and departing from Nepal.
Apart from that, you will have to fly from Kathmandu to Lukla since trekking or driving is very difficult or impossible. After reaching Lukla you will only have to trek. You will end your trek at Lukla again after which you will have to fly back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, if you would like to roam around then you might use a taxi or jeep. Guide and Porters

It proves to be very beneficial to have porters and guides along with you if you are a foreigner who is not proficient in Nepali culture, tradition, history, and language. The guides can be very helpful in showing the easier path and negotiating with the locals. The porters can easily carry your bags if you are not in the condition to do so. Since the Everest Base Camp route is relatively difficult, it is best if you hire a porter to carry your load.
