Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lake and Tsho-la pass Trek with Nepal Adventure Team is a mesmerizing and enjoyable adventure leading you to the foot of worlds highest mountains Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse.
Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lake and Tsho-la pass Trek offers incredible vista of Mt. Everest (8,848m) Lhotse (8,516 m), Cho-Oyu (8, 201m), Nuptse (7,855m), Mt. Pumori (7,161 m), Ama-Dablam (6,812 m) and world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu (8,463 m) with many other smaller unnamed peaks in the comfort of nice cozy lodge on route of trekking.
Starting this fabulous Everest Base Trek with a scenic short flight to Lukla at 2,820 meters high village, our adventure starts from Lukla leading through several cultural Sherpa villages with Buddhist religious monuments and monasteries. Walk leads to famous Namche Bazaar at 3,440 meters high, the capital of Khumbu and main hub of the Sherpa’s. After Namche our trek will finally reach at our destination at Everest Base Camp after a wonderful time at Gokyo Lake with hike up to scenic view point of GokyoRi, and crossing Tsho-la 5,367 m high pass while enjoying the views of tumbling Khumbu Ice Falls and Khumbu glacier.
Our next adventure leads to a steep climb to the top of Kalapathar the highest point of the trek at 5,545 meters with alluring views of Mt. Everest at close distance with other high surrounding peaks. After a glorious moment and gaining experience of a lifetime with alluring sceneries, you will head back to Lukla through a nice valley of Pheriche unto Namche Bazaar. A sweeping scenic flight brings you back to Kathmandu after an amazing adventure and great service of Nepal Adventure Team and its friendly guides and porters.

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines. On arrival at Kathmandu international airport terminal Nepal Adventure Team staff and guide will receive you with a warm welcome and then transfer to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu around the interesting area of Thamel. After refreshment our guide / leader will brief with information regarding hotels, Nepali culture, tours and trek to Everest Base Camp via Gokyo& Cho-la pass with a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant with folk cultural program.
Day 02Preparation day in Kathmandu We separate this day for the preparation of the entire journey. You will be informed of all the trekking plans and the packing lists, what you can expect and how it can be more interesting. This day can be important to most of the people before beginning the journey. Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu is optional when if intended, you can visit a number of world heritage listed places.
Day 03Fly to Lukla 2,820 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.Starting early on having or with packed breakfast, heading towards Kathmandu domestic air terminal for a short scenic flight to Lukla in a smaller plane, on 35 minutes airborne incredible views of snowcapped mountains range with glimpse of Everest as the plane lands at Lukla amazing airstrip. From Lukla after a refreshing break follow our expert guide as the walk leads downhill and on gradual winding trail passing several nice Sherpa traditional villages with cheerful smiles to reach our first overnight stop at Phakding village by the glacial river Dudh Kosi.
Day 04Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs. After an enjoyable fist day trek, this morning walk is pleasant through beautiful alpine woodland of pines and rhododendron trees with views of snowcapped peaks, walk leads following the river upstream crossing several bridges and enter the Sagarmatha National Park entrance at Monjo, this park listed as highest park and within world heritage sites. As the walk progress after the last high bridge and uphill haul all the way to Namche Bazaar, a wonderful town-village where the colorful houses serving as hotels and lodge set in a U shape. In Namche Bazaar the last place with modern facilities of ATM, Banks, post office, Cyber Café, Trekking / Climbing shops and stores with many café, bakeries and restaurants with great views of Kwangde peaks towards south.
Day 05Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion. Namche Bazaar an ideal spot for rest day and acclimatization at 3,440 meters high before heading higher elevation. Morning after breakfast take short walk to the top of Namche at Park headquarter area with a museum full of information regarding Khumbu / Everest area of Sherpa religions, culture, history, mountaineering to flora and flora. This wonderful spot offers stunning views of Ama-Dablam, Tharmasarku, Kangtenga, Kwangde, Khumbi-la with Mt. Everest and Lhotse towards North, after an impressive morning head back to lodge for lunch with afternoon free to relax and catch up with the dairy and browse around the bazaar.
Day 06Trek to Dole 4,110m - 06 hrs. From here heading to Gokyo, the first hour walk is easy and moderate till it joins the main trail at Kyangima near Shanasa, chances of seeing wildlife round this area colorful Danphe pheasant (Impeyan Pheasant) National bird of Nepal and the elusive musk deer, and sometime even herd of Himalayan Thar (mountain goat). From here our route diverts towards north with a slow climb to the ridge at Mong 3,973 meters. After Mong the path descends with series of switchbacks to Dudh Kosi at Phortse Thanghka. From here continue to Dole, the path ascends through a patch of rhododendron forest then gives way to juniper and conifers trees then to Tongba village at 3,950m and Gyele 3,960m and finally reaching at Dole for the overnight halt with striking view of Khumbila and Tawache 6,542m.
Day 07Trek to Machherma 4,470m-04 hrs. After Dole, journey continues along the side of the valley on a moderate level trail for an hour to Lhabarma Kharka at 4,325 m and to Luza at 4,390m; then skirting around the ridge line with first glimpse of Machherma, situated in the valley, then finally reaching at Machherma for lunch and overnight stop after a good scenic walk, afternoon free for acclimatization for short hike for views of Mt. Cho Oyo 8,210m and all the mountains that flank the Ngozumba Glacier.
Day 08Trek to Gokyo 4,800m -04 hrs. Slowly and gradually journey leads to Gokyo Lake following a scenic trail to Pangka 4,545m, then climbing a rocky path into ablation valley passing the first lake and the second lake, the reaching the third lake known as Dudh Pokhari the bank of the shore is summer settlement of Gokyo at 4,790 meters. After lunch free short hike and acclimatization the side of the lake offers awesome views of world’s 06th highest Mt. Cho Oyo and Gyachung Kang with reflection on emerald green Gokyo Lake.
Day 09Gokyo rest day, hike to GokyoRi 5,357m. Morning hike to GokyoRi 5,357m another highlight of this journey Gokyo ri offers mind blowing scenery panorama of world’s highest peak from Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east rises Mt. Makalu. After a mesmerizing time at Gokyo Ri descend to Gokyo for lunch and relax with the surrounding awesome views
Day 10Gokyo to Thaknak 4,750m - 04 hrs Aftera relaxing time in Gokyo continue walk for few hours to Thaknak on the bottom of Chugyuma or Tsho-la pass, near Nha village at the foot of the Ngozumba glacier.
Day 11Cross Tsho-la 5,367m and trek to Dzongla 4,830 m -07 hrs. Before dawn get ready for the long step ascend towards Tsho-la pass (pronounced as Cho-la) for few hours the walk leads to the rocky moraine in snow condition this will be arduous job to find the path in snow and ice however in dry time just walk on the rubble and moraine then reaching at the top enclosed by several peaks of Cholatse, Nirekha and Taboche, after a hard climb traverse leads to a descend to a small valley at Dzong-la for overnight halt.
Day 12Trek to Lobuche 4,940 m - 05 hrs. After wonderful stop in Dzongla, morning walk follows an uphill path for an hour and then a nice pleasant walk near Thugla (Dugla) located on the midway joining with Pheriche valley, Dingboche and Cholatse pass and towards Everest Base Camp & Kalapathar. From here a gradual walk to Lobuche for overnight.
Day 13Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp 5,364 m and return to Gorakshep - 06 hrs. Starting the morning with a gentle walk could be hard due to high altitude gain with views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest, after 2 hours of strenuous walk reaching at Gorakshep after walking on moraine and icy trails.
Gorakshep with 4-5nice lodges and the last place with lodge facilities before Everest Base Camp; with a break here journey continues to Everest Base Camp walking over moraine overlooking at Khumbu Icefall, slowly the walk leads to our main highlight and destination of this adventure at Everest Base Camp.
Enjoying incredible moment for an hour at base camp, return journey back to Gorakshep for overnight stop after achieving high lights of the trip.
Day 14Hike to Kalapathar 5,545m trek to Pheriche 4,280m - 05 hrs.Starting early to reach our next highlight and the highest point of the adventure with a steep climb for 2 hours hike to Kalapatthar hill top on a black rocky ridge of a hill at 5,545 meters high, offering awesome panorama of surrounding high giant peaks with Mt. Everest at stone throw distance towards East.
After an incredible moment and amazing feeling with high spirit head down to Gorakshep and continue trek downhill to Pheriche valley for the overnight stop. Pheriche a temporary settlement near Dingboche with more than 20 lodges and teahouses with grand views of Taboche, Cholatse, Ama-Dablam and as far to Mt. Cho-Oyu in the distance north west.
Day 15Trek to Namche Bazaar via Pangboche 3,900 m and Thyangboche. From Pheriche walk is long and pleasant on the downhill trail to reach Thyangboche after Shomare on the same path passing Pangboche village with an hour climb up to Thyangboche and back into tree lines and rich green vegetation and on the downhill with short steep climb near to Namche, and then a pleasant winding trail brings you back at Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.
Day 16Trek back to Lukla - 07 hrs.Retrace the journey back to Lukla via Monjo near Sagarmatha National Park entrance and exit, a pleasant and relaxing walk enjoying the surrounding scenery as the trail leads back to Lukla on this last day walk of this fabulous adventure, just few small short uphill climb brings you back to Lukla for last overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest, a farewell to our loyal and friendly porters.
Day 17Fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.Flight starts early morning, transfer to Tenzing and Hillary air terminal at Lukla airport on boarding the plane a sweeping flight of 35 minutes brings you back in Kathmandu and then transfer to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure. Farewell dinner will be served in the night time with music and dance.
Day 18International departure for homeward bound. Your last day in amazing Nepal as per international flight time our staff will transfer you to international airport for your flight back home or to next port of call, after a great and enjoyable adventure to Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lake & Cho-la pass with outmost grand service of Nepal Adventure Team and its guides and porters.
Passport & Visa
All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Getting a visa must be the easiest one though. You just have to go to the Nepalese Embassy/consulate in your country or it can also be obtained upon your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport. To get a visa, you need to bring 2 pp size photos, visa fees and valid passport.

Means of Transport
Airplane, bus or car and walking. All the cost is already included unless otherwise noted.
Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip or if your belongings are lost or stolen.
We have arranged for the single traveller to pay for the single trip only. He has to share the accommodation with other person of same sex though while he can also join the other groups.
Foods and Accommodations
All meals are provided during trek while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu. Generally, traditional Nepalese(daal, bhat, curry and pickle), Tibetan, Continental, Indian and other cuisines are available in the local lodges/teahouses. There will also be welcome and farewell dinner for guests in Kathmandu.
In Kathmandu, youll be staying in the best quality standard hotel, on twin-sharing basis. On trekking,accommodations are simple yet comfortable on mountain lodges. Toilets and bathrooms need to be shared while you have to pay for the hot water bath.
Note: Single room is always available but only on special request and spending extra bucks.
Health and Fitness required
No previous experience is required since its a moderate trek. But you being a healthy person, physically and mentally is very important. It is better if we prepare ourselves few days/weeks prior to the start of the trek by jogging and running regularly since well be walking a lot of ups and downs in the hills, ridges, villages and mountains. Participants with the pre-existing medical conditions should inform us beforehand.
First Aid Kit/High Altitude Sickness
Nepal Adventure Team strongly suggests that you have your own personal first aid or medical kit. This trip takes you to a height above 4000m within few days but the slow walks and regular stops between the walks will help you acclimatize on high altitude saving you from the high altitude sickness called AMS(acute mountain sickness). Gaining altitude without proper consideration of AMS is fatal. Hence, rest in Namche Bazaar and Gokyo Ri is really necessary for the acclimatization.
Your Guide and Porter
Since the mountain trekking take you to the remote places over high altitudes, the leader should have a significant knowledge in the field so that he can wonderfully and safely lead you there clearing any obstacles on the way. We,Nepal Adventure Team can proudly say that our guides are highly qualified for the role. They are fully trained, experienced and licensed. They have undergone through a whole lot of trainings to make themselves useful in various situations and to make your journey a smooth and pleasant one.
Our porters are always fully equipped with the gears they need and as per the company policy, they are always insured and completely looked after. They are our backbone. We allow maximum weight of 25kg to be carried by one porter. We make sure that they are well paid and well treated.
Best Time to Travel
The best time for trekking to the Everest base camp via Tsho La pass is Spring(March to May) and Autumn(September to November) because the weather is warm and moderate while the view and visibility is the best. The winter and the summer is the less frequented times because of the cold and the monsoon rain respectively.
Equipments and Packing Lists
After booking with Nepal Adventure Team, please pack necessary items as listed:

4. 6-8 pairs of socks woolen / cotton.
5. Fleece jacket, Down / Duvet Jacket and Rain / windproof jacket.

8. A cap for day and a woolen hat or Balaclava for evening / morning wear.

11. Sleeping bag (4 seasons) with inner liner.

Trekking has been long established in Nepal,so the itineraries are modified and moderated in such a way that you can take it easy and slow. DO NOT RUSH AND ENJOY. There is plenty of time and guide will keep track of you all the time. It might be a bit harder or a bit more colder but you will get used to it.
Every traveller is different and they spend their own way. Some spend on food and drinks while other on souvenirs. Either way, consider your own spending habits and also tipping, emergency fund($200), etc before you pack up and leave.
Trip Specific Safety
Your guide is always there for your safety concerns and looking after your valuables. But you have to be equally careful. Carry some sort of wallet or belt for your important documents and money. The hotels have the safety deposit box where the lock is recommended before passing the luggage.

Possession or using ofany illegal drugs is totally intolerable. Its because of the law that respects the local people and their culture. The group will be expelled in such case.

The groups safety is very important for us. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Even though every effort is made to go as planned, a little change might occur in the itinerary because of weather conditions, health condition of a person, unexpected natural disasters, etc. The leader will try to ensure the trip runs as planned, but please be prepared to be flexible just in case.
In event of flight cancellation/delay in/out of Lukla: Due to bad weather conditions(might even happen in best season), it is very likely that the flight to/from Lukla could be delayed or cancelled so make sure you have a day or two extra in your plan. Meanwhile, we could either get back to the hotel after booking another flight or hire a helicopter on extra expense. This is when your travel insurance comes in handy to claim back the expense. Please note that there will be no refund. If the cancellation happens before the trip, you will be given proper lunch and accommodation but if it happens after, you have to cover the additional expenses yourself.
