Dubbed by some as “the steps to heaven,” Everest Base Camp trekking is incredible journey which will show you raw and rugged beauty of Nepal. Walking through beautiful forests, stunning landscapes, thrilling trails, culturally rich ethnic village and century monasteries are some of the major features of this trekking. This trek also provides a great scenic view of snow capped mountains and glaciers.
Everest Base Camp trek is suitable for amateurs and beginners. Although, a certain amount risk is still involved as trekkers suffer from altitude sickness and bronchitis. The trip starts from Lukla after a breathtaking flight from Kathmandu. It is generally 13- 15 days walking journey. Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu (1350 m)“Namaste! Welcome to Nepal”. This is how our staffs will receive you as soon as you step outside of the airport gate. Transfer to hotel is followed. After checking in, you will have your time to relax and freshen up. In the evening, the WELCOME DINNER is served where you will meet our team. Short briefing will be held over the dinner on “the background of cultural dance and music”.
Day 02Trek preparation day in Kathmandu (sightseeing optional)An important day to adapt to the new country since the journey ahead will take you to the higher altitudes. All the preparations have to be done today and the documents made ready to start the journey. Depending on the guest’s request, we will go out for the wonderful day tour to the few of the most beautiful “World’s Heritage Sites”. Get astounded by the unique history, arts and local cultures.
Day 03Fly to Lukla (2820 m) and trek to Phakding (2640 m) - 04 hoursAfter early morning breakfast, we will get to the airport to have a scenic flight to the most adventurous airport in the lap of the Himalayas, LUKLA. This short flight is so breathtaking that you feel you are already on the destination but “NO”, the journey has just begun. There are the beverages waiting for you when you touch down so that you can talk about how the short flight has blown your mind. As in all games, first steps are easy so we trek slowly towards Phakding village. Well, the journey to find yourself begins now.
Day 04Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 m) - 05 hoursThis day we will enter the World Heritage listed ‘Sagarmatha National Park’. The walk follows the DUDH KOSHI river upstream and crossing several bridges time and again we will climb to the last town in the region called Namche Bazaar.
Day 05Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursionChilling day to enjoy the wonderful views of different mountain ranges. We will take a short uphill walk to the NATIONAL PARK HEADQUARTER which is our magnificent viewpoint for Mt. Everest and Lhotse. Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kangtega, Kwangde, Khumbila and many more.
Day 06Trek to Thyangboche (3867 m) - 05 hoursWe know you cannot wait to go further closer to the Mount Everest. What about taking the blessings from the HIGH LAMA (priest) for the successful journey ahead! We can do it after arriving in Tengboche monastery where the holy priest is residing.
Day 07Trek to Dingboche (4260 m) - 04 hoursStone steps lead down through rhododendron and pine forests and after crossing a bridge, we will leave the tree lines behind to reach an exposed area for the SUPERB VIEWS of Mount Ama Dablam from up close.
Day 08Dingboche- Rest and acclimatizeOPT TO HIKE to Chhukung or Nagarzhang Peak in this acclimatizing day. As the altitude gains rapidly from here onward, we’d like you to take it slow and enjoyable. Dingboche is one of the main highlights of our entire journey from where the mountain views are just extraordinary.
Day 09Trek to Lobuche (4930 m) - 05 hoursThe morning walk continues for an hour to Thugla, the summer pastures and meadows and continues towards the end of the Khumbu glacier. You’ll find the stone monuments on the memory of various mountaineers and climbers. Continue towards Lobuche from where the MAGNIFICENT SUNSET can be observed.
Day 10Trek to Gorakshep (5170 m) and to Everest Base Camp (5334 m) - 6/7 hours Be prepared for the challenging yet wonderful trekking day through once vast Gorakshep lake. With the gradual walking and rest, you’ll get adjusted to prepare continuing to EVEREST BASE CAMP, the main highlight of our adventure. Even though the walk is strenuous, you will lose the fatigue after seeing Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori from the base camp.
Day 11Hike to Kalapatthar (5545 m) and trek to Pheriche (4240m) - 06 hoursShining bright and elegant, you will see the true beautiful face of Everest in the stone throw distance after hiking early to KALA PATTHAR. Though the walk is strenuous for two hours, it’s totally worth it since the views from the top is mesmerizing. Descend towards Pheriche for the overnight stop.
Day 12Trek to Namche (3440 m) - 6 hoursIt’s time we start getting back to Lukla. While descending down, with the swift downhill through the forests, look out for the colorful pheasants and mountain goats since it’s a UNIQUE AND RARE THING to be missed. We will once again come down to Dudh Koshi valley and ultimately to Namche Bazaar.
Day 13Trek back to Lukla (2820 m) - 06 hoursIt was just like yesterday since we began this journey and we’ve already come to the FINAL DAY of our memorable adventure. After the rigorous adventure for a number of days, we’ve come to the pleasant walking day to continue and ultimately arrive at Lukla for spending the last night in the Everest region.
Day 14Fly back to KathmanduAnother short and fascinating flight to get BACK TO KATHMANDU where you have rest of the day for souvenir shopping, sightseeing and relaxing in rooftop cafes.
Day 15Next adventure or international flightAwesome! You can either stay longer and plan further if you couldn’t get enough of the Himalayas or get ready to fly back to your home nation. Either way, we are glad to comply. Thank you for being with us all this time. YOU ARE THE BEST.
Passport & Visa
All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Getting a visa must be the easiest one though. You just have to go to the Nepalese Embassy/consulate in your country or it can also be obtained upon your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport. To get a visa, you need to bring 2 pp size photos, visa fees and valid passport.

Means of Transport
Airplane, bus or car and walking. All the cost is already included unless otherwise noted.
Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip or if your belongings are lost or stolen.
We have arranged for the single traveller to pay for the single trip only. He has to share the accommodation with other person of same sex though while he can also join the other groups.
Foods and Accommodations
All meals are provided during trek while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu. Generally, traditional Nepalese(daal, bhat, curry and pickle), Tibetan, Continental, Indian and other cuisines are available in the local lodges/teahouses. There will also be welcome and farewell dinner for guests in Kathmandu.
In Kathmandu, youll be staying in the best quality hotel basically in 3 stars, on twin-sharing basis. On trekking,accommodations are simple yet comfortable on mountain lodges. Toilets and bathrooms need to be shared while you have to pay for the hot water bath.
Note: Single room is always available but only on special request and spending extra bucks.
Health and Fitness required
No previous experience is required since its a moderate trek. But you being a healthy person, physically and mentally is very important. It is better if we prepare ourselves few days/weeks prior to the start of the trek by jogging and running regularly since well be walking a lot of ups and downs in the hills, ridges, villages and mountains. Participants with the pre-existing medical conditions should inform us beforehand.
First Aid Kit/High Altitude Sickness
Nepal Adventure Team strongly suggests that you have your own personal first aid or medical kit. This trip takes you to a height above 4000m within few days but the slow walks and regular stops between the walks will help you acclimatize on high altitude saving you from the high altitude sickness called AMS(acute mountain sickness). Gaining altitude without proper consideration of AMS is fatal. Hence, rest in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche is really necessary for the acclimatization.
Your Guide and Porter
Since the mountain trekking take you to the remote places over high altitudes, the leader should have a significant knowledge in the field so that he can wonderfully and safely lead you there clearing any obstacles on the way. We,Nepal Adventure Team can proudly say that our guides are highly qualified for the role. They are fully trained, experienced and licensed. They have undergone through a whole lot of trainings to make themselves useful in various situations and to make your journey a smooth and pleasant one.
Our porters are always fully equipped with the gears they need and as per the company policy, they are always insured and completely looked after. They are our backbone. We allow maximum weight of 25kg to be carried by one porter. We make sure that they are well paid and well treated.
Best Time to Travel
The best time for trekking to the Everest Base Camp is Spring(Feb-June) and Autumn(September to Dec) because the weather is warm and moderate while the view and visibility is the best. The other times is the less frequented times because of the extreme cold and the monsoon rain respectively.
Equipments and Packing Lists
After booking with Nepal Adventure Team, please pack necessary items as listed:
1. Travel documents: passport, visa(if you have), travel insurance, air tickets, voucher, passport photo (x 2)
2. Bank card or credit cards, travellers cheque, etc
3. Comfortable boots and runners/sports shoes.
4. 6-8 pairs of socks woolen / cotton.
5. Fleece jacket, Down / Duvet Jacket and Rain / windproof jacket.
6. Gloves- 2 pairs.
7. T-shirts 4-6 pcs, shirts(woolen/cotton).
8. A cap for day and a woolen hat or Balaclava for evening / morning wear.
10. Short and tracksuits.
11. Sleeping bag (4 seasons) with inner liner.
12. Large and small towels.

15. Sun /snow glass.
16. Ski / walking poles(optional but useful).
17. First Aid/medical kit(provided if necessary)
18. Rucksack / backpack.
19. Duffel Bags(carried by porters or animals and provided if necessary).

Trekking has been long established in Nepal,so the itineraries are modified and moderated in such a way that you can take it easy and slow. DO NOT RUSH AND ENJOY. There is plenty of time and guide will keep track of you all the time. It might be a bit harder or a bit more colder but you will get used to it.
Every traveller is different and they spend their own way. Some spend on food and drinks while other on souvenirs. Either way, consider your own spending habits and also tipping, emergency fund($200), etc before you pack up and leave.
Trip Specific Safety
Your guide is always there for your safety concerns and looking after your valuables. But you have to be equally careful. Carry some sort of wallet or belt for your important documents and money. The hotels have the safety deposit box where the lock is recommended before passing the luggage.

Possession or using ofany illegal drugs is totally intolerable. Its because of the law that respects the local people and their culture. The group will be expelled in such case.

The group’s safety is very important for us. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Even though every effort is made to go as planned, a little change might occur in the itinerary because of weather conditions, health condition of a person, unexpected natural disasters, etc. So you’re advised to be flexible in such cases.
In event of flight cancellation/delay in/out of Lukla:
Due to bad weather conditions (might even happen in best season), it is very likely that the flight to/from Lukla could be delayed or cancelled so make sure you have a day or two extra in your plan.
