Everest Gokyo Lake Trek is a mesmerizing and enjoyable adventure which leads you at the foot of worlds highest mountains, on the high hills and valley of Khumbu and Everest region.
Everest Gokyo Lake Trek offers incredible vista of Mt. Everest (8,848m) Lhotse (8,516 m), Cho-Oyu (8, 201m), Nuptse (7,855m) Amadablam (6,812 m) and world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu (8,463 m) with many other smaller unnamed peaks in the comfort of nice cozy lodge on route trekking.
This fascinating adventure begins with a scenic short flight to Lukla at 2,820 meters high village, where the actual adventure starts from Lukla leading through several cultural Sherpa villages with Buddhist religious monuments and monasteries.
Walk leads to famous Namche Bazaar at 3,440 meters high the capital of Khumbu and main hub of the Sherpa’s. After Namche trek we arrive at our destination at picturesque turquoise Gokyo Lake and we take a hike up to scenic view point GokyoRi at 5,357 meters, the highest point of this adventure with awesome unparallel panorama of world highest peaks with other smaller mountains and Ngozumba glacier, the longest in Nepal Himalaya.
Return journey on the downhill first &with short uphill walk all the way to Lukla where this magnificent Everest Gokyo Lake Trek concludes. A sweeping scenic flight brings you back to Kathmandu after an amazing adventure and great service of Nepal Adventure Team and its friendly guides and porters.

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines. On arrival at Kathmandu international airport terminal Nepal Adventure Team staff and guide will receive you with a warm welcome and then transfer to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu around the interesting area of Thamel. After refreshment our guide / leader will brief with information regarding hotels, Nepali culture, tours and trek to Everest Gokyo Lake with a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant with folk cultural program.
Day 02Preparation day in Kathmandu We separate this day for the preparation of the entire journey. You will be informed of all the trekking plans and the packing lists, what you can expect and how it can be more interesting. This day can be important to most of the people before beginning the journey. Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu is optional when if intended, you can visit a number of world heritage listed places .
Day 03Fly to Lukla 2,820 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs. Starting early morning having or with pack breakfast, a short drive toKathmandu domestic air terminal for a short scenic flight to Lukla in a smaller plane with 35 minutes airborne, incredible views of snowcapped mountains range with glimpse of Everest as the plane lands at Lukla amazing airstrip. From Lukla after a refreshing break follow our expert guide as the walk leads downhill and on gradual winding trail passing several nice Sherpa traditional villages with cheerful smiles to reach our first overnight stop at Phakding village by the glacial river Dudh Kosi.
Day 04Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs. After an enjoyable first day trekking, this morning walk is pleasant for the first half heading into beautiful alpine woodland of pines and rhododendron trees with views of snowcapped peaks, walk leads following the river upstream crossing several bridges and enter the Sagarmatha National Park entrance at Monjo, this park listed as highest park and within world heritage sites. As the walk progress after the last high bridge and uphill haul all the way to Namche Bazaar, a wonderful town-village where the colorful houses serving as hotels and lodge set in a U shape. In Namche Bazaar the last place with modern facilities of ATM, Banks, post office, Cyber Café, Trekking / Climbing shops and stores with many café, bakeries and restaurants with great views of Kwangde peaks towards south.
Day 05Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion. Namche Bazaar an ideal spot for rest day and acclimatization at 3,440 meters high before heading higher elevation. Morning after breakfast take short walk to the top of Namche at Park headquarter area with a museum full of information regarding Khumbu / Everest area of Sherpa religions, culture, history, mountaineering to flora and flora. This wonderful spot offers stunning views of Amadablam, Tharmasarku, Kangtenga, Kwangde, Khumbi-la with Mt. Everest and Lhotse towards North, after an impressive morning head back to lodge for lunch with afternoon free to relax and catch up with the dairy and browse around the bazaar.
Day 06Trek to Dole 4,110m - 06 hrs. From here our route heads to Gokyo Lake, the first hour is pleasant till it joins the main trail near Shanasa, here might see some wildlife around this area the elusive musk deer, and sometime even herd of Himalayan Thar (mountain goat). From here leaving the main base camp trail, where our route diverts towards north with a slow climb to the ridge at Mong 3,973 meters. After Mong the path descends with series of switchbacks to Dudh Kosi at PhortseThanghka. From here continue to Dole, the path ascends through a patch of rhododendron forest then gives way to juniper and conifers trees then to Tongbavillage at 3,950m and Gyele 3,960m and finally reaching at Dole for the overnight halt with striking view of Khumbila and Tawache 6,542m.
Day 07Trek to Machherma 4,470m-04 hrs. After Dole, journey continues along the side of the valley on a moderate level trail for an hour to LhabarmaKharka at 4,325 m and to Luza at 4,390m; then skirting around the ridge line with first glimpse of Machherma, situated in the valley, then finally reaching at Machherma for lunch and overnight stop after a good scenic walk, afternoon free for acclimatization for short hike for views of Mt. Cho Oyo 8,210m and all the mountains that flank the Ngozumba Glacier.
Day 08Trek to Gokyo 4,800m -04 hrs. Slowly and gradually journey leads to Gokyo Lake following a scenic trail to Pangka 4,545m, then climbing a rocky path into ablation valley passing the first lake and the second lake, the reaching the third lake known as Dudh Pokhari the bank of the shore is summer settlement of Gokyo at 4,790 meters. After lunch free short hike and acclimatization the side of the lake offers awesome views of world’s 06th highest Mt. Cho Oyo and Gyachung Kang with reflection on emerald green Gokyo Lake.
Day 09Gokyo rest day, hike to GokyoRi 5,357m. Morning hike to GokyoRi 5,357m the highlight of this journey GokyoRi offers mind blowing scenery panorama of world’s highest peak from Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east rises Mt. Makalu. After a mesmerizing time at GokyoRi descend to Gokyo for lunch and relax with the surrounding awesome views of mountains and landscapes.
Day 10Trek back to Dole - 06 hrs. After an enjoyable and fascinating time in Gokyo, morning walk leads on the same route passing settlements of LhabarmaKharka, Luza then skirting around the ridge line heading downhill to reach Dole after a wonderful walk of more than 5 hours.
Day 11Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hr. From Dole a pleasant morning walk on downhill to reach the Dudh Kosi River and back into tree lines at Phortse Thanka. After a nice break in between heading uphill at MongDanda a small village on a hill top ridge with fantastic views.
From here a long descendleads back at Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.
Day 12Trek back to Lukla - 07 hrs. Retrace the journey back to Lukla via Monjo near Sagarmatha National Park entrance and exit, a pleasant and relaxing walk enjoying the surrounding scenery as the trail leads back to Lukla on this last day walk of this fabulous adventure, just few small short uphill climb brings you back to Lukla for last overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest, a farewell to our loyal and friendly porters.
Day 13Fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure. Flight starts early morning, transfer to Tenzing and Hillary air terminal at Lukla airport on boarding the plane a sweeping flight of 35 minutes brings you back in Kathmandu and then transfer to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure. Farewell dinner is served at night.
Day 14International departure for homeward bound. Your last day in amazing Nepal as per international flight time our staff will transfer you to international airport for your flight back home or to next port of call, after a great and enjoyable adventure to Everest Gokyo Lake Trek with outmost grand service of Nepal Adventure Team and its guides and porters.
Passport & Visa
All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Getting a visa must be the easiest one though. You just have to go to the Nepalese Embassy/consulate in your country or it can also be obtained upon your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport. To get a visa, you need to bring 2 pp size photos, visa fees and valid passport.

Means of Transport
Airplane, bus or car and walking. All the cost is already included unless otherwise noted.
Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip or if your belongings are lost or stolen.
We have arranged for the single traveller to pay for the single trip only. He has to share the accommodation with other person of same sex though while he can also join the other groups.
Foods and Accommodations
All meals are provided during trek while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu. Generally, traditional Nepalese(daal, bhat, curry and pickle), Tibetan, Continental, Indian and other cuisines are available in the local lodges/teahouses. There will also be welcome and farewell dinner for guests in Kathmandu.
In Kathmandu, youll be staying in the best quality standard hotel, on twin-sharing basis. On trekking,accommodations are simple yet comfortable on mountain lodges. Toilets and bathrooms need to be shared while you have to pay for the hot water bath.
Note: Single room is always available but only on special request and spending extra bucks.
Health and Fitness required
No previous experience is required since its a moderate trek. But you being a healthy person, physically and mentally is very important. It is better if we prepare ourselves few days/weeks prior to the start of the trek by jogging and running regularly since well be walking a lot of ups and downs in the hills, ridges, villages and mountains. Participants with the pre-existing medical conditions should inform us beforehand.
First Aid Kit/High Altitude Sickness
Nepal Adventure Team strongly suggests that you have your own personal first aid or medical kit. This trip takes you to a height above 4000m within few days but the slow walks and regular stops between the walks will help you acclimatize on high altitude saving you from the high altitude sickness called AMS(acute mountain sickness). Gaining altitude without proper consideration of AMS is fatal. Hence, rest in Namche Bazaar and Gokyo Ri is really necessary for the acclimatization.
Your Guide and Porter
Since the mountain trekking take you to the remote places over high altitudes, the leader should have a significant knowledge in the field so that he can wonderfully and safely lead you there clearing any obstacles on the way. We,Nepal Adventure Team can proudly say that our guides are highly qualified for the role. They are fully trained, experienced and licensed. They have undergone through a whole lot of trainings to make themselves useful in various situations and to make your journey a smooth and pleasant one.
Our porters are always fully equipped with the gears they need and as per the company policy, they are always insured and completely looked after. They are our backbone. We allow maximum weight of 25kg to be carried by one porter. We make sure that they are well paid and well treated.
Best Time to Travel
The best time for trekking to the Everest Gokyo Lake is Spring(March to May) and Autumn(September to November) because the weather is warm and moderate while the view and visibility is the best. The winter and the summer is the less frequented times because of the cold and the monsoon rain respectively. But those who prefer less crowd prefer the later times.
Equipments and Packing Lists
After booking with Nepal Adventure Team, please pack necessary items as listed:
1. Travel documents: passport, visa(if you have), travel insurance, air tickets, voucher, passport photo (x 2)
2. Bank card or credit cards, travellers cheque, etc
3. Comfortable boots and runners/sports shoes.
4. 6-8 pairs of socks woolen / cotton.
5. Fleece jacket, Down / Duvet Jacket and Rain / windproof jacket.
6. Gloves- 2 pairs.
7. T-shirts 4-6 pcs, shirts(woolen/cotton).
8. A cap for day and a woolen hat or Balaclava for evening / morning wear.
10. Short and tracksuits.
11. Sleeping bag (4 seasons) with inner liner.
1. Large and small towels.
3. Water bottle.
4. Sun /snow glass.
5. Ski / walking poles(optional but useful).
6. First Aid/medical kit.
7. Rucksack / backpack.
8. Duffel Bags(carried by porters or animals).

11. Scarf / mask(for dust and wind).
12. Personal hygiene stuffs.
13. Any other extras you feel is necessary like binocular, cameras, books, journals, and more.
Trekking has been long established in Nepal,so the itineraries are modified and moderated in such a way that you can take it easy and slow. DO NOT RUSH AND ENJOY. There is plenty of time and guide will keep track of you all the time. It might be a bit harder or a bit more colder but you will get used to it.
Every traveller is different and they spend their own way. Some spend on food and drinks while other on souvenirs. Either way, consider your own spending habits and also tipping, emergency fund($200), etc before you pack up and leave.
Trip Specific Safety
Your guide is always there for your safety concerns and looking after your valuables. But you have to be equally careful. Carry some sort of wallet or belt for your important documents and money. The hotels have the safety deposit box where the lock is recommended before passing the luggage.

Possession or using ofany illegal drugs is totally intolerable. Its because of the law that respects the local people and their culture. The group will be expelled in such case.

The groups safety is very important for us. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Even though every effort is made to go as planned, a little change might occur in the itinerary because of weather conditions, health condition of a person, unexpected natural disasters, etc. The leader will try to ensure the trip runs as planned, but please be prepared to be flexible just in case.
In event of flight cancellation/delay in/out of Lukla: Due to bad weather conditions(might even happen in best season), it is very likely that the flight to/from Lukla could be delayed or cancelled so make sure you have a day or two extra in your plan. Meanwhile, we could either get back to the hotel after booking another flight or hire a helicopter on extra expense. This is when your travel insurance comes in handy to claim back the expense. Please note that there will be no refund. If the cancellation happens before the trip, you will be given proper lunch and accommodation but if it happens after, you have to cover the additional expenses yourself.
