Helambu Trekking in the company of the staffs of Nepal Adventure Team is one of the short and best trekking within North East of Kathmandu valley rim in the central Himalayan region of Langtang and Jugal Himal range.
Helambu trekking leads to two national parks entering first at Shivapuri Wild Reserve National Park and second at Nepal’s 2nd largest Langtang National Park with an area of 1,710 sq. km.
This fabulous Helambu trekking can be an ideal holiday, suitable for all types of people like families, school / college groups, corporate, honeymooners to hardy trekkers. Adventure leads through high hills of Tamang, Bhotias and Hyolmo traditional villages enriched with Buddhist religion, culture, and tradition of Tibetan origin. Helambu trekking offers amazing panorama from Annapurna-Manaslu-Ganesh with Langtang to Jugal Himal.
Starting this wonderful Helambu from north east of Kathmandu with varied landscapes and into pristine forested area leading past many farm villages to enter the Helambu region, least frequented by other trekkers akin to Sherpa and Tamang culture and religion. From here, Helambu trekking leads downhill to warmer area passing interesting village of Sermathang and ending the trek at Malemchipul Bazaar, with few hr drive back to Kathmand uunder excellent guidance and management of Nepal Adventure Team and its staffs.
Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines.
Day 02:Kathmandu / trek preparation and free time
Day 03:Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani (2300 m) - 04 hours.
Day 04:Trek to Kutumsang (2446 m) - 6 / 7 hours.
Day 05:Trek to Thadepati (3597 m) - 05 hours.
Day 06:Trek to Tarke Gyang (2590 m) - 04 hours.
Day 07:Trek to Sermathang (2610 m) - 04 hours.
Day 08:Trek to Malemchipul Bazaar, drive to Kathmandu - 05 hours drive
Day 09:International departure for homeward bound.
Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines. On arrival at Kathmandu international airport terminal Nepal Adventure Team's representative will receive you with a warm welcome and then transfer to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu around the interesting area of Thamel. After refreshment our guide / leader will brief with information regarding hotels, Around Helambu trekking with welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant with folk cultural program.
Day 03Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani (2300 m) - 04 hours.After driving to Sundarijal, our route leads to uphill climb through farm villages, cascade of waterfalls, reaching at an entrance of Shivapuri National Park and through the farm villages to arrive at Chisapani located on a ridge north of Kathmandu valley, where air is cooler at an height of 2,300 meters with grand views of snow capped peak ranges. Also the wonderful spot for sunrise and sunset.
Day 04Trek to Kutumsang (2446 m) - 6 / 7 hours. After viewing of pleasant sunrise over mountains, walk starts with descend to a nice village of Pati Bhanjyang of Hindu Brahman and Chettris area, from here walk continues with a climb for an hour and then with gradual winding path into cool forest and villages reaching at Gulbhanjyang and our trek continue walking through rural farm villages with views of landscapes and rolling green hills till the trek comes to an end on reaching Kutumsang, a mix farm village of Sherpa-Hyolmo and Tamang ethnic tribes of people. Afternoon, free to explore this small lovely village and its scenic surrounding.
Day 05Trek to Thadepati (3597 m) - 05 hours. From Kutumsang, morning walk leads to a climb north towards Yurin Danda ridge and into lovely pristine forests of rhododendron, pines and oak trees heading to a small pass at 3,510 meter and to a forest area. After few hours of good walk into the cool forest area, we arrive at Thadepati for lunch and overnight stop. Thadepati with few lodges, the highest point of this trip, offers grand panoramic views of rolling hills and high snow peaks of Langtang and Jugal mountain range.
Day 06Trek to Tarke Gyang (2590 m) - 04 hours. Trek continues with descend into dense forests of rhododendron, hemlocks, firs and pines trees passing several cow herders and Sheppard’s huts to reach at Melamchi gyang. the after our trek continue to typical mountain village of Buddhist culture where the Hyalmo settlements(near to extinct tribe) start.Walk downhill to Melamchi river and crossing the river by a suspension bridge the walk leads to a climb above the river for an hour reaching to the overnight spot, Tarkegyang village via Nakote village. Tarkegyang is famous for delicious green apples and intricate wood carving furniture of Tibetan design. Explore around in the afternoon.
Day 07Trek to Sermathang (2610 m) - 04 hours. Morning, on leaving this nice village, walk leads on the downhill through beautiful forest and passing many chortens (Buddhist prayer monuments), summer meadows to reach Gangyul a small village, then following the path with wonderful views of rolling hills to reach at Shermathang for overnight stop.
Day 08Trek to Malemchipul Bazaar, drive to Kathmandu - 05 hours drive After a wonderful time in the high mountains, walk continues for few hours towards Melamchi town and bazaar to get a drive back to Kathmandu. Few hours of good overland drive takes you to Kathmandu after a wonderful time in the high hills of Himalaya.
Day 09International departure for homeward bound. Your last day in amazing Nepal. As per international flight time, our staff will transfer you to international airport for your flight back home or to next port of call, after a great Helambu Trekking adventure with Nepal Adventure Team.
Passport & Visa
All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Getting a visa must be the easiest one though. You just have to go to the Nepalese Embassy/consulate in your country or it can also be obtained upon your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport. To get a visa, you need to bring 2 pp size photos, visa fees and valid passport.

Means of Transport
Tourist bus or private vehicle and walking. All the cost is already included unless otherwise noted.
Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip or if your belongings are lost or stolen.
We have arranged for the single traveller to pay for the single trip only. He has to share the accommodation with other person of same sex though while he can also join the other groups.
Foods and Accommodations
All meals are provided during trek while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu. Generally, traditional Nepalese(daal, bhat, curry and pickle), Tibetan, Continental, Indian and other cuisines are available in the local lodges/teahouses. There will also be welcome and farewell dinner for guests in Kathmandu.
In Kathmandu, youll be staying in the best quality standard hotel, on twin-sharing basis. On trekking, accommodations are simple yet comfortable on mountain lodges. Toilets and bathrooms need to be shared in some teahouses.
Note: Single room is always available but only on special request and spending extra bucks.
Health and Fitness required
No previous experience is required since its a moderate trek. But you being a healthy person, physically and mentally is very important. It is better if we prepare ourselves few days/weeks prior to the start of the trek by jogging and running regularly since well be walking a lot of ups and downs in the hills, ridges, villages and mountains. Participants with the pre-existing medical conditions should inform us beforehand.
First Aid Kit/High Altitude Sickness
Nepal Adventure Team strongly suggests that you have your own personal first aid or medical kit. This trip takes you to some high altitudes though not much but the slow walks and regular stops between the walks will help you acclimatize on high altitude saving you from the high altitude sickness called AMS(acute mountain sickness). Gaining altitude without proper consideration of AMS is fatal.
Your Guide and Porter
Since the mountain trekking take you to the remote places over high altitudes, the leader should have a significant knowledge in the field so that he can wonderfully and safely lead you there clearing any obstacles on the way. We,Nepal Adventure Team can proudly say that our guides are highly qualified for the role. They are fully trained, experienced and licensed. They have undergone through a whole lot of trainings to make themselves useful in various situations and to make your journey a smooth and pleasant one.
Our porters are always fully equipped with the gears they need and as per the company policy, they are always insured and completely looked after. They are our backbone. We allow maximum weight of 25kg to be carried by one porter. We make sure that they are well paid and well treated.
Best Time to Travel
The best time for trekking to the Langtang region is Spring(March to May) and Autumn(September to November) because the weather is warm and moderate while the view and visibility is the best. The winter is also somehow fine but the monsoon is the less frequented time because of the occasional heavy rain and when the roads might be troublesome.
Equipments and Packing Lists
After booking with Nepal Adventure Team, please pack necessary items as listed:
1. Travel documents: passport, visa(if you have), travel insurance, air tickets, voucher, passport photo (x 2)
2. Bank card or credit cards, travellers cheque, etc
3. Comfortable boots and runners/sports shoes.
4. 6-8 pairs of socks woolen / cotton.
5. Fleece jacket, Down / Duvet Jacket and Rain / windproof jacket.
6. Gloves- 2 pairs.
7. T-shirts 4-6 pcs, shirts(woolen/cotton).
8. A cap for day and a woolen hat or Balaclava for evening / morning wear.
10. Short and tracksuits.
11. Sleeping bag (4 seasons) with inner liner.

5. Ski / walking poles(optional but useful).

Trekking has been long established in Nepal,so the itineraries are modified and moderated in such a way that you can take it easy and slow. DO NOT RUSH AND ENJOY. There is plenty of time and guide will keep track of you all the time. It might be a bit harder or a bit more colder but you will get used to it.
Every traveller is different and they spend their own way. Some spend on food and drinks while other on souvenirs. Either way, consider your own spending habits and also tipping, emergency fund($200), etc before you pack up and leave.
Trip Specific Safety
Your guide is always there for your safety concerns and looking after your valuables. But you have to be equally careful. Carry some sort of wallet or belt for your important documents and money. The hotels have the safety deposit box where the lock is recommended before passing the luggage.

Possession or using of any illegal drugs is totally intolerable. Its because of the law that respects the local people and their culture. The group will be expelled in such case.

The groups safety is very important for us. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Even though every effort is made to go as planned, a little change might occur in the itinerary because of weather conditions, health condition of a person, unexpected natural disasters, etc. The leader will try to ensure the trip runs as planned, but please be prepared to be flexible just in case.
