Jomsom Muktinath trek is one of the most adventurous Himalayan trekking destinations in the Annapurna and Mustang regions, which falls under the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP, 1986), the largest undertaking of The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC, 1982). Jomsom Muktinath Trekking Offers a remarkable view of the soaring peaks of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7061m), and Annapurna (8,091m). Walking on the trails along the Kali Gandaki River, the world’s deepest river Gorge thrills each traveler in the Annapurna region.

There is no doubt that the Jomsom Muktinath trek can be an idle trek to explore the windy valley of Jomsom and the sacred place of Muktinath along with other popular places such as Ullerii. Jomsom is the capital of the Mustang district which is perfectly sitting, along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, where you can find black stones called Shaligram which local people see as God Vishnu. Muktinath gives you a pleasant feeling of spiritual adventure. Muktinath is a sacred place for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims, and lies in the foothills of Thorong La Mountain pass. Muktinath is also known as chumming Gyatsa, which means “Hundred Waters” in Tibetan. According to Buddhist mythology, sage Guru Rinpoche meditated in Muktinath on his journey to Tibet.

Jomsom Muktinath Trek in the Annapurna region starts from Nayapul, which is a two-hour drive from Pokhara. Then, the journey for the religious, historical, and spiritual sites begins with passing through culturally rich villages like Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tatopani, Kagbeni, Jomsom, and finally Muktinath temple. On your way to the Jomsom Muktinath trek, you will come across beautiful traditional-style houses of Ulleri village. Followed by Ulleri, you can also visit Ghorepani (2750m), which contains the world’s largest Rhododendron forest and is also a gateway to Poon Hill. Both villages are inhabited by a large number of the Magar community. We then ascend down to the natural hot spring Tatopani, where you can relax and cure all the fatigues of your trekking. You can see many Nepalese people also taking a dip there, because of their strong belief that taking a bath here cures diseases related to the skin. On top of that, you will be spending some quality time in Dana with the most beautiful 300m tall Rupse waterfall, which is a famous tourist destination. Walking along the trail you will reach Marphan village popular with apple orchids and apple products. After Marpha village you will find yourself in one of the windiest places in Nepal, Jomsom, inhabited by Tibetan and Thakalis people. From Jomsom, we move toward one of the spiritual villages of Kagbeni. Kagbeni gives you the perfect picture of a remote, ancient city, decorated with a red-walled monastery. A continuously encouraging journey of the Jomsom Muktinath trek finally takes you to your destination place called Muktinath which is a famous holy pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. Despite extremely cold water, people take a shower in 108 waterspouts in Muktinath temple and dip in a small pond with a belief that guarantees salvation after death. Besides, the tremendous views of mountain peaks, amazing landscapes, and beautiful villages, you will experience the spiritual vibes of Muktinath temple. Because of that, Jomsom Muktinath Trek is gaining popularity among spiritual adventure lovers by offering peace of mind.

It’s very hard to express the joy of Jomsom Muktinath Trek through words, but you have to get your backpack ready for Jomsom Muktinath Trek with the Nepal Adventure Team. We will be an excellent companion on your trek and surely we will make your trip memorable and remarkable.

Means of Transport

Tourist bus or private vehicle and walking. All the cost is already included unless otherwise noted.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip or if your belongings are lost or stolen.

Foods and Accommodations

All meals are provided during the trek while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Generally, traditional Nepalese (daal, Bhat, curry, and pickle), Tibetan, Continental, Indian and other cuisines are available in the local lodges/teahouses. There will also be a welcome and farewell dinner for guests in Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you'll be staying in the best quality standard hotel, on a twin-sharing basis. On trekking, accommodations are simple yet comfortable on-mountain lodges. Toilets and bathrooms need to be shared in some teahouses.

Note: Single room is always available but only on special requests and spending extra bucks.

Health and Fitness Required

No previous experience is required since it's a moderate trek. But you being a healthy person, physically and mentally is very important. It is better if we prepare ourselves a few days/weeks prior to the start of the trek by jogging and running regularly since will be walking a lot of ups and downs in the hills, ridges, villages, and mountains. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions should inform us beforehand.

First Aid Kit/High Altitude Sickness

Nepal Adventure Team strongly suggests that you have your own personal first aid or medical kit. This trip takes you to some high altitudes though not much but the slow walks and regular stops between the walks will help you acclimatize to high altitude saving you from the high altitude sickness called AMS (acute mountain sickness). Gaining altitude without proper consideration of AMS is fatal.

Your Guide and Porter

Since mountain trekking takes you to remote places over high altitudes, the leader should have a piece of significant knowledge in the field so that he can wonderfully and safely lead you there clearing any obstacles on the way. We, Nepal Adventure Team can proudly say that our guides are highly qualified for the role. They are fully trained, experienced, and licensed. They have undergone a whole lot of training to make themselves useful in various situations and to make your journey a smooth and pleasant one.
Our porters are always fully equipped with the gears they need and as per the company policy, they are always insured and completely looked after. They are our backbone. We allow a maximum weight of 25kg to be carried by one porter. We make sure that they are well-paid and well-treated.

Best Time to Travel

The best time for trekking to the Annapurna Jomsom Muktinath trek is Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) because the weather is warm and moderate while the view and visibility are the best. The winter is also somehow fine but the monsoon is the less frequented time because of the occasional heavy rain and when the roads might be troublesome.

A Couple of Rules

Possession or use of any illegal drug is totally intolerable. It is because of the law that respects the local people and their culture. The group will be expelled in such a case.

It was most Amazing, and Trans Himalaya Region On Nepal

In May 2018 we started our hike toward Jomsom Muktinath. We wanted to have a cultural experience with a dash of adventure here in Nepal. We had no idea where to go until we met Jeevan. His travel agency outlined the tour for us. We started our tour from Pokhara which is a beautiful city in Nepal. In Muktinath, the weather gets a little windy and you might even face sandstorms but the entire experience was very spiritual. We finished the tour by visiting various world heritage sites in Kathmandu city. The trip was holistic and beautifully planned by Nepal Adventure Team. If you want to go on the Jomsom Muktinath tour, I suggest that you contact Nepal Adventure Team.
