1 DayKathmandu to Kathmandu Grade:
Best season : All year except July- August
Group Size: 2+ , 1 in a flight
Ultra-light aircraft was started in Nepal in 1997. Ultra-light provides a golden opportunity of tasting the beauty of nature within a short period of time. It’s considered as the recreational aviation flight for those who enjoy adventure. More importantly, ultra-light aircraft is a medium to observe the magnificent Pokhara valley along with mountain peaks and lakes at the same time. Ultra-light is a very light plane that has no window and seating for simplest folks, which include a pilot and a passenger. These aircraft can reach very close to the mountains peaks. Early autumn and early spring is considered the best season for the ultra-light flights. The flight will be a journey through nature and truly a unique experience.
Followings are different names of the flight and the time duration you can fly on the ultra-light flight:
1. Short flight (15 min.)
Only in 15 minutes, ultra-light aircraft can fly over the Pokhara and get the spectacular panoramic views of Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri range. Far above from the maximum attitude of 5000 feet, you will get a chance to fly over Phewa lake, near Sarangkot hill and over the World Peace Pagoda.
2. Glory of Mt. Fishtail (30 min.)
A medium duration flight takes you slightly higher and farther. You’ll fly over the Tibetan refugee camp and as far as Lamachour, on the northern part of the valley. This flight takes you as close to the Fish Tail Mountain as it’s possible with the speed of 90 km/hr. The view is simply superb.
3. Mountain range sky trek (60 min.)
Pokhara is the exceptional place to take this hour long flight. You can fly around the city and via the valley and sooner or later make your way to the edges of Mt. Fishtail (or Mt. Machapuchare). On this flight youre so near the mountain it looks like you can almost wipe the snow off the height with your hand. While flying through the air you can see four of Nepal’s nine highest peaks along with Annapurna 1, Annapurna 2, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu.
It is an extremely good and unforgettable experience and adds that extra unique touch in your journey reminiscences in Nepal. This flight provides a wonderful assessment of the Annapurna Range with speeds from 90 km/hr to 130 km/hr and the best altitude of 12,000 feet. Best for the adventurers and the photographers.
4. Into the heart of the mountain (90 min.)
The best attraction of 90 minutes of flight is it will take you deeper and closer to the Himalayan giants than anything else while allowing ample time to enjoy the sights.
You’ll fly past remote mountain villages that even trekking will miss. The experience of being surrounded by the Himalayas is a once in a lifetime experience.
