Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)
Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, a representative from Nepal Adventure Team with a company’s display board will greet you and transfer you to your respective hotel. After some refreshing time in the hotel, you can explore Thamel, the touristic place of Kathmandu. In the evening you will join the welcome dinner party at a typical Nepalese restaurant organized by Nepal Adventure Team where you will enjoy authentic Nepali food, along with cultural dance performanceDay 2 Trek Preparation
Today, you start your day by having a hearty breakfast and then you will be ready for a guided sightseeing tour of historical and religious sites of Kathmandu including UNESCO enlisted world heritage; the old palace of the former Kathmandu kingdom, Durbar Square where you will experience rich ancient architecture and Newari culture. Continue on, you will visit Sacred Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath and the famous monkey temple (Swoyambhunath), Hindus and Buddhist pilgrimage sites of Nepal. At last, you will visit one of the large stupas in the world; Boudhanath Stupa. Your guided city tour ends here and you will join the pre-trip discussion where you can meet your trek leader and other crew. Your trek leader gives you a quick briefing about the trek. You can also ask any questions regarding the trip.Day 3 Drive to Soti Khola (730 m), 7-8 hours and overnight stay
Today, you leave early in the morning from Kathmandu to Soti Khola via Gorkha, Arughat. You can enjoy the smooth scenic drive through beautiful greenery hills and villages until you reach Dhading Besi (1050 m) on a paved road which is a District headquarters of Dhading Districts. From Dhading Besi onwards, you will encounter a dusty and muddy road, rougher surface. After you reach Arughat, you have to make transit, there is no direct bus to Soti Khola. From Arughat, you will travel by public jeep. You can also make a transit in Dhading Besi to reach Soti Khola (730 m), where you can travel by local bus. After 7-8 hours of a long drive, including the multiple stops for a short break, you will reach Soti Khola where you will stay overnight in Soti Khola.Day 4 Trek to Machha Khola (890 m/2,965 ft) 6-7 hours
On this day, you will follow the trail through Budhi Gandaki River to reach Machha Khola via Lapu Besi (880 m) and begins the walk for the Manaslu Tsum Valley and Larkya La Trek. Walking above the huge rapids of the Budhi Gandaki, you reach Khursani (which means spicy chilly) where you can enjoy two small waterfalls. Trekking down further, you will reach Lapu Besi, which is a small Gurung settlement. Continue on the rocky trail, walking on the wide sandy river banks, you then reach Machha Khola where you will stay overnight. Machha stands for fish in the Nepali language. Machha Khola is a small village of Ghale and Gurung ethnic and indigenous communities of Nepal.
Day 5 Trek to Jagat (1,400 m/4,593 ft), lunch at Dovan (1,340 m) 5-6 hours
Today, you head towards Jagat which is about 6-7 hours of walk. You walk a relatively easy trail in the morning, you will reach Khorla Besi (960 m), about 1 and a half of hours. From Khorla Besi you will head towards Tatopani which is about 1 hour of walk, it is famous for hot spring where you can also take a short hot shower. Tatopani refers to Hot water in the Nepali Language. Soon after a refreshing break, you walk towards Dovan (1000 m). You will take lunch at Dovan then you will reach Yauraphat. Continue on the trail you then reach Jagat. Jagat is a wide valley that lies on the west side of Budhi Gandaki river
Day 6 Trek to Lokpa (2,040 m/6,692 ft) 4-5 hours
After staying at Jagat, early morning after breakfast you will walk through the sandy banks and then your trail descends to Sirdibas (1430 m). Continuing the trail at upriver on the left bank, you will encounter with a suspension bridge. After crossing that bridge you will reach Philim (1590 m). Philim is a village inhabitant by Gurung Community. Passing Philim to the north and moving on further, you will reach Ekle Bhatti (1600 m). Finally, leaving Ekle Bhatti behind and walking through the pine forest, zig-zag trail, you will reach Lokpa (2040 m). You can have a magnificent view of Himchuli (7893 m), and Ganesh Himal (7422 m). You will stay overnight in Lokpa.
Day 7 Trek to Chumling (2,386 m/7,828 ft) 5-6 hours
As in the previous days of the trek, you will be walking after having breakfast and today’s overnight stay is at Chumling. The trail is featured with the majestic view of splendid Ganesh Himal and Boudha Himal. You will follow the zig-zag trail for two hours, through a pine forest to reach Gumlung (2130 m). Then you will follow the steep path until you reach Ripchet (2470 m). While walking the difficult trail, you then cross a wooden bridge over a Shier Khola. After crossing the bridge, you will soon reach Chumling which is a beautiful village with traditional beautiful houses, accompanied by Shringeri Himal where you can also visit old Gompa. You will stay overnight at Chumling.
Day 8 Trek to Chokhangparo (3,031 m/9,944 ft) 4-5 hours
Today, you will walk the easy trail and will cross the long suspension bridge on to the opposite bank. You can enjoy the beautiful view of Ganesh Himal while walking through the trail. Following the trail, you reach Rainjham (2400 m) which is the lunch spot for the day. Then moving towards Serpu Khola, you will enter the hidden valley of Tsum. Walkthrough another steep climb, you then reach Chokhangparo. Chokhangparo is the overnight stay spot which is another beautiful village where you can have a beautiful view of Himchuli (7893 m).
Day 9 Trek to Nile (3,361 m/1126 ft) 3 hours, visit Mu Gompa (3,700 m/1,213 ft) 2 hours
By leaving Chokhangparo behind, you will walk towards the Nile. This day is comparatively more interesting as you will be visiting Gumpas and Caves. During the walk, you should be extra careful and watch for signs of altitude sickness as the altitude rises. If you are healthy enough, then you will follow the itinerary and trail which takes you to Lama Gaon (3202 m). Continuing on, you will walk through rice fields to reach Rachen Gompa (3240 m) which is also known as Nunnery Gompa. You will also visit one of the most sacred caves of Tsum Valley; Milarepa’s Cave (Piren Phu), also known as a pigeon cave, nearby the village of Burji. It is strongly believed that the famous Milarepa, Tibetan saint, has meditated in this cave. You will see the footprint of Milarepa, Tibetan Saint, imprinted on the cave. Following the pleasant route, you will reach Nile (3361 m). The Nile is the overnight spot for the day however; Mu Gompa (3700m) is planned for the rest of the day. Mu Gompa (3700 m) is the largest monastery in the Manaslu region. The highest point of your Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek mark is Mu Gompa and Mu Gompa was established in 1985 AD. It takes you about 1.5 hours to reach Mu Gompa from the Nile. You can enjoy the glorious mountain view along with the historical Mu Gumpa.
Day 10 Nile to Chokhangparo, 5-6 hours
Today, you will return to Chokhangparo village from the Nile. Along with the beautiful view of the mountain, you will follow the trail and pass through beautiful villages of Phurbe, Pangdun, and Chule. Then you will reach to Chokhangparo village. You will stay overnight at Chokhangparo.
Day 11 Chhokhangparo to Lokpa, 5-6 hours
You will head back to Lokpa. You will be following the trail, along with Ganesh Himal, after crossing Serpu Khola. You will move forwards to Rainjham and cross the long suspension bridge. Following the trail, you reach Chumling. Continuing on, you will cross a wooden bridge over a Shier Khola and you will reach Lokpa, after passing Ripchet and Gumling. You will stay overnight at Lokpa.
Day 12 Lokpa to Deng (1,860 m), 5-6 hours
On the 12th day of Manaslu Tsum Valley and Larkya Pass Trek, you will walk down the exposed track from Philim, after leaving behind Lokpa. You will reach Bhatti after one hour of walking, after crossing the Budi Gandaki river. You will have the look at Tsum Valley for the last time as we head towards Larkya La Pass. Walking down and sometimes climbing up, you reach a narrow gorge. About 2 and a half an hour, you will reach Sirdibas (1860 m), and the Nupri region (the western mountains). Passing through the bamboo forest, you will reach Deng (1800 m), inhabited by Gurung. You will stay at Deng for the night.
Day 13 Deng to Namrung (2,630 m), 5-6 hours
Leaving behind Deng and re-crossing the east bank, you will climb to Rana Gaon (1980 m). Then, crossing Shier Khola, you will reach Ghap (2160 m). Having the walkthrough Mani walls, you will reach Bhimthang. You will reach Namrung by enjoying the beautiful breathtaking view of Ganesh Himal, Jugal HImal, and Shringeri Himal. You will stay at Namrung
Day 14 Namrung to Lho Gaon (3,157 m),5-6 hours
Today, you will need to cover 11 kilometers to reach Lho Gaon. You will cross a Budhi Gandaki river. During the trek, you will encounter with traditional Tibetan dress wearing people. You will walk past through the forest, mani walls and picturesque village. After walking again, a relatively easy walk, you reach Lho Gaon (3180 m). You will stay overnight at Lho Gaon.
Day 15 Lho Gaon to Sama Gaon (3,530 m), 5 hours
Today, you will follow the right bank of the Budhi Gandaki river. You will walk through the forest and climb up to the village of Shyala. From Shyala, you will have a wonderful view of Phungi, Manaslu, and Himchuli. Moving further along the trail, you will continuously have a glorious view of Mt. Manaslu in the south, the Ganesh Himal towards the east. As you enter a village, you will lose sight of Mt.Manaslu. This village is at higher altitude so they only grow potato and barley. At the end of the village, you can see the famous monastery of Sama Gaon. You will stay overnight at Sama Gaon.
Day 16 Sama Gaon Acclimatization
Today is the day of acclimatization. Without proper acclimatization, you can’t complete the trek successfully. Sama Gaon is a beautiful lively village, lies at an altitude of about 3520 meters. You will join a short hike to Pungyen Gompa, which takes about 4-5 hours or you can hike Birendra Lake, which is more like a leisurely walk, it takes about two hours. You can also do a return side trip to Manaslu Base Camp which takes 7-8 hours where you can have a marvelous view of the turquoise lake at the foot of mighty mountains. It is important to have a day hike on acclimatization day as it makes it useful as well as easier to cope with high altitude to avoid altitude sickness.
Day 17 Trek to Samdo (3,865 m) 3-4 hours
You will walk on an easy trail to reach Samdo. Accompany by the view of the incredible landscape, you will start your trek slowly walking as altitude gain. You will walk through the yak pastures up a broad valley, as well as mani wall, and also cross a Budhi Gandaki on a wooden bridge. Further, you will reach Samdo (3860 m), which is a beautiful small settlement with houses and lodges. After arriving in Samdo, you can enjoy exploring the village where you will enjoy yak herding. You can find fewer people, more animals, and fodder shelters here in Samdo.
Day 18 Samdo to Dharmasala (4,460 m) 4-5 hours
Today, you will descend from Samdo, the last village of upper Manaslu valley, on a broad trail. You will cross a wooden bridge over the Budhi Gandaki to encounter the ancient trading route to Tibet. This trading route enables you to explore an old and historical market. Crossing few Icey streams, you then reach Dharmasala (4460 m), also known as Larkya La Phedi. You can have a beautiful view of Larkya Glaciers, along with spectacular Mt.Manaslu. You will stay overnight at Dharmasala. Tomorrow, you will be crossing the most famous Larkya La Pass.
Day 19 Dharmasala to Larkya La Pass and trek to Bhimthang (3,590 m) 7-8 hours
You will have an exciting, most-awaited, and challenging journey of Larkya La Pass. You will start your day much earlier than other days in the trek to avoid high wind through the snow-covered trail. You will find less snow in the morning if high wind follows the overnight snowfall. You will climb steadily over the ridge and large lateral moraine of the Larkya Glacier while enjoying the view of Cho Danda with the Larkya peak. Continuing on a rocky trail, you will descend frozen lakes and climb to the left up to Larkya La (5160 m), which is marked by prayer flags where you can have a splendid view of Himlung (7126 m), Cheo Himal, Kang Guru (6981 m), Annapurna II (7937 m), and series of Manalsu peak. After spending some quality time with mighty mountains, you will descend to Bhimthang (3720 m). Walking through the left of the large lateral moraine, you will walk the easier trail and reach a meadow. Soon you will reach Bhimthang where you will stay overnight. Bhimthang is a wide green valley with few lodges.
Day 20 Trek to Tilche (2,300 m) 6-7 hours
The strenuous trail will drop quickly as you will head towards the Annapurna mountain region. The trail leads to yak pastures and small villages of Kharche and Gho. You will feel the difference in lowering altitude. Then your trail finally ends at Tilche (2300 m). You will stay overnight at Tilche.
Day 21 Trek to Chamje (1,430 m) 6-7 hours
Following the trail, in a short period, you will reach Dharapani (1963 m). Then you will join the Annapurna Circuit trail from Manag Valley. Annapurna Circuit trail descends to Karte. Moving further, you will cross a bridge to reach Taal village over the Marshyangdi river. You will reach Chamje (1430 m).
Day 22 Drive back to Kathmandu
Today, you will wrap up your journey to the Manaslu Tsum valley and Larkya La Pass. You will drive back to Kathmandu from Chamje via Besisahar. It takes you about 8-9 hours of drive. To reach Besisahar from Chamje, it takes you about 3-4 hours in a bumpy off-road. From Besisahar, the ride will be smooth and comfortable as we join Prithvi Highway. You can enjoy the view of green hills, mountains, farming terraces, and beautiful villages, along with Marshyangdi river and Trishuli river. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your respective hotel, to relax and energize. In the evening you will join the farewell dinner party organized by Nepal Adventure Team. Optional: if you don’t want to drive by public bus, you can also take a private jeep from Chamje to Kathmandu which will be more comfortable and faster.
Day 23 Final Departure
Your long Manaslu Tsum Valley and Laekya La Pass Trek come to an end as you head towards your home. There may be a few hours left from your scheduled flight for last-minute shopping. If you have time, you can do sightseeing and enjoy shopping for souvenirs. Nepal Adventure Team’s representative will take you to the airport approximately three hours before the flight.
