Koshi Tappu National Park, located in the Eastern part of Nepal and having access from the Mahendra Highway formerly called as Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve was established in1996. In this reserve, it’s good for 2-3 days stay for wild life safari and nature tour observing varieties of birds and other endangered wild lives..

Located on the flood plains of eastern Nepal, the Koshi Tappu National Park offers important habitat for a different species of wild lives, the last surviving population of Wild Buffalo or Arna , many mammals and reptiles including Gigantic Dolphin and over 280 species of water birds including rare birds such as Greater Adjutant Stork, Red-necked Falcon, Indian Skimmer, Indian Courser, Bengal and Lesser Floricans, Hodgsons Bush chat, Spot-billed Pelican, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Black-necked Stork, Faceted Duck, Baers Pochard, Comb Duck, White-tailed Eagle, Imperial Eagle, Pied Harrier, Caspian Tern, Black-bellied Tern, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Swamp Francolin, Striated Grass bird, Bristled Grass bird, Make pie robin and Asian paradise flycatcher

Addition to all these,  Jungle safari in Koshi Tappu National Park also offers the opportunity to enjoy canoeing down Sunkoshi river and immerse down into the unique culture and traditions of Thakali, ethnic tribe.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Flight from KathmanduThe first thing to do in your short but most enjoyable trip is to fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar. You will be picked up and transferred to the lodge for overnight stay. Short briefing and tour around a little bit.

Day 02National Park program After breakfast in the morning, carry your packed lunch for the all day excursion by boat and followed by the jeep. Enjoy the magnificent nature while observing the wild lives, birds, reptiles and many more. Cultural night after getting back in the lodge.

Day 03National Park program Following the same routine again you will go out and enjoy the beautiful floras and faunas' diversities this park offers. Mostly you will be going to the swamps, watching water buffaloes and others, doing elephant ride and jungle safari. Dinner in the lodge.

Day 04Flight back to Kathmandu.And so comes the departing day. After the early morning breakfast, leave for the Biratnagar and fly back to Kathmandu.

Passport & Visa

All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Getting a visa must be the easiest one though. You just have to go to the Nepalese Embassy/consulate in your country or it can also be obtained upon your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport. To get a visa, you need to bring 2 pp size photos, visa fees and valid passport.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a must when you travel abroad. Therefore before you come to Nepal, please make sure you have your insurance documents with you since our insurance companies cannot insure foreign nationals. Because of the reason that they cover all the expenses if you face some unfortunate happenings and you have to be rescued or medically assisted during the trip or if your belongings are lost or stolen.


Solo Travellers

We have arranged for the single traveller to pay for the single trip only. He has to share the accommodation with other person of same sex though while he can also join the other groups.

Foods and Accommodations

All meals are provided during trek. Generally, traditional Nepalese(daal, bhat, curry and pickle), Tibetan, Continental, Indian and other cuisines are available in the local lodges.

Note: Single room is always available but only on special request and spending extra bucks.

 

Drinking

It is very important to drink the water when you are doing jungle safari. Please drink enough water and its available en route which you have to buy.

You can travel any time of the year for this trip.

 

Additional Money

Every traveller is different and they spend their own way. Some spend on food and drinks while other on souvenirs. Either way, consider your own spending habits and also tipping, emergency fund($200), etc before you pack up and leave.

Trip Specific Safety

Your guide is always there for your safety concerns and looking after your valuables. But you have to be equally careful. Carry some sort of wallet or belt for your important documents and money. The hotels have the safety deposit box where the lock is recommended before passing the luggage.

Possession or using of any illegal drugs is totally intolerable. Its because of the law that respects the local people and their culture. The group will be expelled in such case.

The groups safety is very important for us. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Even though every effort is made to go as planned, a little change might occur in the itinerary because of weather conditions, health condition of a person, unexpected natural disasters, etc. The leader will try to ensure the trip runs as planned, but please be prepared to be flexible just in case.

Note: Optional. You can have a full day sightseeing in Kathmandu if you wish to do so. You can also extend the trip to multiadventute tours and to different packages of Kathmandu and Pokhara. Please let us know and we will change it to your requirements.
